Telkom: Being Adaptive in Technology Allows AI to Create New Job Opportunities
Jakarta – Telecommunications firm PT Telkom Indonesia believes artificial intelligence (AI) can create new job opportunities, provided workers remain adaptive and develop their capabilities alongside technological progress.
“Compared with jobs that are disrupted, many more new jobs are created. We also predict this will be the case in the AI world,” said Komang Budi Aryasa, Executive General Manager of Digital Product at Telkom Indonesia, during a media briefing in Jakarta on Monday.
He acknowledged concerns that AI could replace human roles across various business sectors and industries, as it is perceived as more time and cost-efficient. However, he argued that improving human competence in using AI itself is the crucial turning point in this technology-driven job market shift.
For this reason, he stressed that becoming adaptive and enhancing capabilities—particularly in the professional and responsible use of AI—is essential for workers to remain relevant and ensure their roles are not replaced by rapidly developing artificial intelligence.
“So our future efforts must focus on learning AI and improving our capabilities with the AI tools available. We must not stand still. It is not AI that will replace us, but those who master AI better will replace those who do not,” Komang said.
“Therefore, we must learn these tools to become more relevant,” he added.
“Since we master other tools, we should not remain stuck with one particular skill, but instead leverage AI tools to take on new roles,” Komang explained.
