PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk and PT Perusahaan Gas Negara (Persero) Tbk (PGN) have forged a strategic collaboration through the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to integrate digital infrastructure with low-carbon energy supplies. Bhimo Aryanto, Senior Director of Business Performance and Assets Optimization at Danantara Indonesia, stated that this collaboration represents a strategic step in strengthening synergies among state-owned enterprises (BUMN) as well as global partners.

“We view this collaboration as a crucial momentum for reinforcing the integration between the digital and energy sectors. The synergy established will not only create efficiency but also open opportunities for sustainable value creation, while strengthening Indonesia’s position within the regional digital ecosystem,” Bhimo said in a written statement in Jakarta on Tuesday (14/4/2026).

Telkom’s President Director, Dian Siswarini, emphasised that this collaboration is a strategic move to bolster BUMN synergies in supporting the development of reliable and sustainable national digital infrastructure. Dian noted that the partnership supports the readiness of clean and efficient energy for the sustainable development of data centres, while strengthening Indonesia’s digital sovereignty and promoting the country as a regional digital hub.

“This aligns with TelkomGroup’s ambition to become a digital infrastructure powerhouse in the region,” Dian said.

In Indonesia, Dian continued, there are five strategic areas for TelkomGroup’s data centre development that have potential to be supported by PGN’s energy supplies, namely Cikarang, Batam, Serpong, Sentul, and Surabaya. These areas are already integrated with PGN’s existing gas pipeline network, enabling the optimisation of current infrastructure while opening opportunities for new network development.

“This initiative serves as a concrete step by both parties in promoting the utilisation of green energy to support the operations of sustainable green data centres,” Dian stated.

In this partnership, Dian added, Telkom acts as the developer of the digital ecosystem and data centres that require low-emission energy supplies, including biomethane, to support TelkomGroup’s data centre operations. Meanwhile, PGN provides these energy supplies through the utilisation of biomethane sourced from palm oil waste in the Sumatra region.

“This step forms an important foundation in ensuring the availability of reliable green energy sources as a key factor in the development of next-generation data centres that are efficient and sustainable,” Dian explained.

Dian also mentioned that TelkomGroup continues to expand global collaborations in developing green digital infrastructure ecosystems, one of which is through a partnership with Sembcorp Development Ltd. Through TelkomGroup’s data centre entity, NeutraDC, this collaboration has been established since 2025 and focuses on exploring the integration of digital infrastructure, platforms, and sustainable energy services.

“This global collaboration encompasses the development of integrated low-carbon energy-based solutions to support operations and enterprise customer needs,” Dian said.

PGN’s President Director, Arief Kurnia Risdianto, highlighted the strategic role of biomethane as one of the drivers of PGN’s business transformation towards a low-carbon era. Arief stated that this collaboration strengthens PGN’s position in developing and providing low-carbon energy for future digital infrastructure.

“PGN has moved beyond being merely a conventional natural gas provider, but also as a supplier of clean energy that forms the foundation for future infrastructure. This biomethane initiative for data centres opens new value-added opportunities while supporting the national energy transition,” Arief said.
