Telkom Accelerates NeutraDC Capacity Expansion in Batam to Meet Data Centre Demand
PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, through its data centre operating company, NeutraDC (PT Telkom Data Ekosistem), continues to strengthen national and regional digital infrastructure development via its joint venture, NeutraDC Nxera Batam. The first data centre building in Batam (BTM-1), scheduled to begin operations this year, has already secured partners for its entire available capacity.
This high market demand has prompted Telkom to begin preparations for the development of a second building, BTM-2, to increase capacity and address the evolving data centre requirements in the SIJOR (Singapore, Johor, Riau Islands) region. One of the strategic partners that has secured capacity in BTM-1 is Gorilla Technology, a global provider of AI, security, and data analytics solutions headquartered in London, UK, which operates across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and America. Through a signed partnership, Gorilla will utilise the NeutraDC Nxera Batam capacity to support AI infrastructure implementation and digital service development in Asia.
The presence of global partners like Gorilla strengthens NeutraDC Nxera Batam’s position as a digital infrastructure destination capable of meeting regional AI, cloud, and digital service needs. Seno Soemadji, Director of Strategic Business Development & Portfolio at Telkom, stated that this achievement reflects TelkomGroup’s strengthening position in its transformation towards becoming a digital infrastructure company, a key pillar of the TLKM 30 strategy. He noted that the high level of trust from global partners demonstrates that Indonesia, particularly Batam, is increasingly recognised as a vital part of the growing regional digital ecosystem.
“This success validates Telkom’s transformation steps to build a more focused and competitive business portfolio capable of creating long-term value. As the need for cloud, artificial intelligence, and digital services increases in Southeast Asia, we see digital infrastructure becoming a primary foundation for future digital economic growth,” said Seno. He added that Batam holds an increasingly important position as a digital connectivity gateway connecting domestic markets with the regional digital ecosystem.
Andreuw Th.A.F., CEO of NeutraDC Group, stated that securing a global strategic partner like Gorilla Technology is a significant momentum for the company to accelerate the development of a global-standard data centre ecosystem in Indonesia. Furthermore, the development of NeutraDC Nxera Batam aims not only to meet digital industry needs but is also expected to provide social and economic impacts for the local community by creating jobs and fostering local digital talent.
Indrama YM Purba, CEO of NeutraDC Nxera Batam, added that Batam has great potential to become a strategic digital data hub due to its strong international connectivity and proximity to regional economic centres. The development of NeutraDC Nxera Batam, totalling 100 MW, is being carried out with a focus on sustainability and operational efficiency, aligning with TelkomGroup’s commitment to providing sustainable digital infrastructure through energy-efficient technology and global-standard operational governance.
