Telkom Accelerates NeutraDC Capacity Expansion in Batam
PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, through its data centre operating company NeutraDC (PT Telkom Data Ekosistem), is strengthening national and regional digital infrastructure development via its data centre joint venture, NeutraDC Nxera Batam. The first data centre building in Batam (BTM-1), scheduled to be operational this year, has successfully secured partners for its entire capacity. High market demand is driving the company to start preparing the development of a second building, BTM-2, to increase capacity and meet the growing need for data centres in the SIJORI region. One strategic partner that has secured capacity in BTM-1 is Gorilla Technology, a global provider of AI, security, and data analytics solutions headquartered in London, with operations across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and the Americas. Through a signed agreement, Gorilla will utilise NeutraDC Nxera Batam’s data centre capacity to support AI infrastructure implementation and digital service development in the Asian region. The presence of global partners like Gorilla further strengthens NeutraDC Nxera Batam’s position as a digital infrastructure destination capable of meeting regional needs for AI, cloud, and digital services. Telkom Strategic Business Development & Portfolio Director Seno Soemadji said this achievement reflects TelkomGroup’s strengthening position in its transformation towards a digital infrastructure company, a key pillar of the TLKM 30 strategy. High trust from global partners indicates that Indonesia, particularly Batam, is increasingly recognised as an important part of the growing regional digital ecosystem. “This success validates Telkom’s transformation steps to build a business portfolio that is more focused, competitive, and capable of creating long-term value. As the need for cloud, artificial intelligence, and digital services increases in Southeast Asia, we see digital infrastructure becoming a key foundation for future digital economic growth. The trust placed by international partners shows that Indonesia has a great opportunity to play a more strategic role in the regional digital value chain,” he stated. High market demand for BTM-1 also serves as a positive signal for Telkom to continue developing capacity through BTM-2, as part of efforts to strengthen Indonesia’s position in the regional digital ecosystem while supporting the TLKM 30 vision of creating new sustainable growth engines. According to Seno, Batam holds an increasingly important position as a gateway for Indonesia’s digital connectivity, linking the domestic market with the regional digital ecosystem. Strengthening data centre capabilities in Batam not only supports current partner needs but also bolsters Indonesia’s readiness to capture opportunities for increasingly integrated digital economic growth at the regional level. “Through world-class digital infrastructure development, Telkom wants to ensure Indonesia is not only a digital market but also an important part of building the regional digital ecosystem. This step aligns with the TLKM 30 vision to build new growth engines, strengthen national competitiveness, and create sustainable value for Indonesia and all stakeholders,” he added. NeutraDC Group CEO Andreuw Th.A.F said that securing a global strategic partner like Gorilla Technology is an important momentum for accelerating the development of a global-standard data centre ecosystem in Indonesia. “We are very enthusiastic to welcome Gorilla Technology and other global partners at NeutraDC Nxera Batam. The high market interest in our Batam data centre validates the infrastructure readiness, service quality, and development strategy we are building with strategic partners to support digital economic growth and AI adoption in the region,” Andreuw concluded. The development of NeutraDC Nxera Batam is not only aimed at meeting digital industry needs but is also expected to have social and economic impacts on the surrounding community. The data centre’s presence is projected to open new jobs, encourage local digital talent growth, increase regional economic activity, and strengthen Batam’s appeal as a technology and digital investment destination. NeutraDC Nxera Batam CEO Indrama YM Purba added that Batam has a significant opportunity to become a strategic digital data hub in the region. “Batam is a highly potential location with strong international connectivity support, proximity to regional economic centres, and a continuously developing investment environment. We see a high need for data centre capacity in the SIJORI region. This forms the basis for subsequent capacity development plans in Batam,” Purba stated. The 100 MW NeutraDC Nxera Batam development is also carried out with attention to sustainability principles and operational efficiency, in line with TelkomGroup’s commitment to delivering sustainable digital infrastructure. The company continues to prioritise the application of energy-efficient technology, global-standard operational governance, and development practices that support environmental sustainability. As the need for artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and digital services increases in Southeast Asia, NeutraDC Nxera Batam is expected to become an important foundation in supporting the acceleration of national digital transformation while strengthening Indonesia’s position.
