Jakarta (ANTARA) - Police are still awaiting the results of the investigation from the Forensic Laboratory Centre (Puslabfor) regarding any criminal elements in the incident where a telecommunications tower collapsed onto two rented houses on Jalan KH Hasyim, RT 006 RW 01, Kembangan Utara, Kembangan, West Jakarta.

“From Puslabfor later. We can’t confirm yet. Essentially, it’s still under investigation. We’re proceeding to determine the elements (of criminality). We can’t confirm yet,” said the Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of Kembangan Police Sector, AKP Rahmad Kurniantoro, when contacted by ANTARA in Jakarta on Wednesday.

Nevertheless, the police found no indications of public harm resulting from the incident. This is compounded by the fact that the house owners did not file any claims against the tower owner (provider) after the case was resolved amicably.

“If it’s in the criminal realm. Unless someone dies, and the general public (is harmed). That’s what we’re looking for,” Rahmad said.

Based on statements from the workers who installed the telecommunications tower, the collapse occurred due to strong winds on Saturday (11/4).

“Yes, according to them, perhaps because of the wind. For manual installation, manual is indeed allowed,” he explained.

Previously, the West Jakarta Building and Spatial Planning Land Agency (CKTRP) issued a warning letter to the owner of the collapsed telecommunications tower that impacted residents’ houses on Jalan KH Hasyim, RT 006/RW 01, Kembangan Utara, Kembangan.

The Head of the Building and Structures Section of the West Jakarta CKTRP Agency, Joni Setiawan, stated that during the field inspection, there was no project signboard for the Building Construction Approval (PBG) or Building Erection Permit (IMB) on the telecommunications tower construction project.

“The construction project must also have approval from the surrounding environment, RT and RW. That must be fulfilled in the PBG requirements. One form of approval is the signature of the residents,” Joni said when confirmed in Jakarta on Tuesday (14/4).
