Telecommunications Tower Collapse Case in Kembangan Ends Without Prosecution
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The case of a telecommunications tower that collapsed and damaged two rental houses on Jalan KH Hasyim, RT 006/RW 01, Kembangan Utara, Kembangan, has ended without any prosecution from the building owner.
Kanit Reskrim Polsek Kembangan AKP Rahmad Kurniantoro stated that the RW 01 Kembangan Utara chairman, as the owner of the rental houses, settled the case amicably with the tower provider.
“Yes, for Pak RW, they’ve settled it amicably. There’s no prosecution from either side. It’s been resolved amicably. From what I’ve heard, it’s done, but I don’t know the follow-up yet,” Rahmad said when contacted by ANTARA in Jakarta on Wednesday.
Rahmad noted that the land where the tower stood, as well as the two rental units damaged by the collapse, belong to the RW 01 Kembangan Utara chairman.
With the case settled amicably between the rental house owner and the tower owner, authorities have not identified any public losses resulting from the incident.
“If the damaged property belongs to Pak RW, and the land owner is also Pak RW, then there’s no loss to the public, right? Permitting issues are not our domain; that’s with the city (Pemerintah Kota),” Rahmad explained.
“Well, if after the inspection (of permits), it’s not allowed (to continue installation), then it’s over. The provincial government won’t permit rebuilding. That’s settled. Our domain is criminal matters. Unless someone dies or the general public is harmed. That’s what we’d pursue,” Rahmad added.
Previously, the Suku Dinas Cipta Karta Tata Ruang dan Pertanahan (CKTRP) of West Jakarta issued a warning letter to the owner of the collapsed telecommunications tower (provider) that damaged residents’ houses on Jalan KH Hasyim, RT 006/RW 01, Kembangan Utara, Kembangan.
Kepala Seksi Bangunan dan Gedung Sudin CKTRP Jakarta Barat, Joni Setiawan, said that during the field inspection, no project signboard for Persetujuan Bangunan Gedung (PBG) or Izin Mendirikan Bangunan (IMB) was found on the telecommunications tower construction project.
“The construction project must also have approval from the surrounding environment, RT and RW. That must be included in the PBG requirements. One form of approval is the signature of residents,” Joni said when confirmed in Jakarta on Tuesday (14/4).
