JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com — The West Jakarta City Government has issued a warning letter to the telecommunications pole provider whose structure collapsed and damaged two residents’ homes on Jalan KH Hasyim, Pondok Cabe, Kembangan, West Jakarta, on Saturday (11/4/2026).

The letter was issued after an inspection found that the project lacked the required permits.

Head of the Building and Structure Section of the West Jakarta Spatial Planning, Building, and Land Agency (CKTRP), Joni Setiawan, stated that his team had conducted a field inspection at the collapse site.

“The construction project must also have approval from the surrounding community, including RT and RW. This must be included in the building permit (PBG) requirements. One form of approval is the residents’ signatures,” Joni said when contacted via text message on Wednesday (15/4/2026).

Therefore, the CKTRP Agency issued warning letter (SP) 1 to the telecommunications tower owner. The warning letter was signed by the Head of the West Jakarta CKTRP Agency, Lucia Purbarini Soepardi.

“We have taken administrative action by issuing SP 1 to the building owner. If the letter is not heeded, then SP 2, 3 will be sent, up to a demolition order,” she said.

Meanwhile, Head of the Investment Management Unit of the One-Stop Integrated Service (UP PMPTSP) of West Jakarta City, Lamhot Tambunan, stated that his office also found no permit data related to the pole construction project.

“After checking the database, we have not found such data. We have coordinated with the agency; there is an application for tower zoning recommendation. But the recommendation has not been issued,” Lamhot explained via text message on Wednesday.

“Essentially, it’s still under investigation. We cannot yet confirm if there is a criminal element or not, because the results from the forensics lab are still ongoing and not out yet,” Rahmad said when contacted by Kompas.com by phone on Wednesday (15/4/2026).

Rahmad assured that there were no fatalities in the incident. This was also a consideration in determining whether there is a criminal element.

He also mentioned that the damaged house belongs to the local RW head who had directly cooperated with the provider, including approving the pole’s installation at the site.

“If, for example, someone had died or there was public loss, it would be different. But there are no fatalities here. The damaged houses are three rental units, but all belong to Mr RW. So, in general, there is no public loss,” Rahmad said.

Additionally, the victims whose homes were damaged have also communicated and resolved the issue in a family-like manner with the provider.
