Telecom executive assigned

JAKARTA (JP): The American telecommunications firm Nynex has
appointed Alfred F. Boschulte as managing director of PT
Excelcomindo, one of the country's global system for mobile (GSM)
cellular telephone operators.

In addition to Nynex, which controls about 23 percent of the
company, Excelcomindo is also owned by PT Telekomindo; PT Santana
Telekomindo; Mitsui of Japan; Asian Infrastructure, an Asian
investment firm; and a number of local investors, including
Yayasan Kartika Eka Paksi and Yayasan Tridaya.

Telekomindo's vice president, Peter Djatmiko, said recently
that Excelcomindo would launch its GSM services in Jakarta and
Surabaya, East Java, in June.

There are two existing GSM operators in Indonesia, PT
Telkomsel and PT Satelindo. (icn)
