The Tejoasri Rowing Festival was held again at the Bengawan Mati Dam, Tejoasri Village, Laren District, on Sunday evening. The festival aims to revive traditional sports in the area. Its consistent organisation and cross-regional participation have attracted the attention of the East Java provincial government for inclusion in the provincial event calendar. Lamongan Regent Yuhronur Efendi expressed his appreciation for the festival, which continues to grow each year. He noted that the event, held to commemorate the 81st Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia, is not merely a competition but also an effort to revive traditional sports while preserving the glory of the Bengawan Solo River. Entering its fourth year, the Tejoasri Rowing Festival was participated in by 32 teams from Lamongan, Tuban, Sidoarjo, Gresik, and other areas. The involvement of participants from various regions indicates the festival is increasingly recognised and has the potential to develop into a sports and local culture-based tourist attraction. Head of the East Java Youth and Sports Office, Hadi Wawan Guntoro, appreciated the consistency of the event’s organisation. He expressed hope that the festival would be included in the East Java Provincial event calendar to broaden its reach, with ambitions for it to eventually become a national event, thereby promoting Lamongan nationally and internationally. Tejoasri Village Head Yusuf Bachtiar added that the festival also helps revive the community’s close relationship with the Bengawan Solo River, which has historically been an important part of the social and economic life of the people.
