Tehran: No threat can destroy Iran's civilisation
Istanbul (ANTARA) - Iran has asserted that “no threat can destroy” its deeply rooted civilisation.
The statement was made by Iran’s government spokesperson, Fatemeh Mohajerani, in response to US President Donald Trump’s threat that Washington would destroy Iran’s “entire civilisation.”
“A nation that has full confidence in the truth of its path will mobilise all its capacity and capabilities to protect its legitimate rights and interests,” Mohajerani wrote on X on Tuesday (7/4).
Emphasising that national security remains the government’s top priority, Iran will handle the situation with caution.
Trump threatened to bomb power plants and bridges across Iran if Tehran fails to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and reach an agreement by 8:00 p.m. EDT on Tuesday or 7:00 a.m. WIB on Wednesday.
The entire region has been on high alert since Israel and the US launched attacks against Iran on 28 February.
Tehran retaliated with drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries hosting US military assets.
Iran’s counterattacks caused casualties and infrastructure damage, while also disrupting global markets and aviation.
