Fuel distribution in Tehran, Iran, has been temporarily halted following attacks on oil depots by the United States and Israel. Iran says it is addressing damage to several energy infrastructure facilities. ‘Due to damage to the fuel supply network, distribution has been temporarily halted,’ Tehran Governor Mohammad Sadegh Motamedian was quoted by the official IRNA news agency, reported by AFP on Sunday, 8 March 2026. ‘The issue is being addressed,’ he added. Meanwhile, Al Jazeera, citing Fars News, quoted Motamedian saying the daily fuel quota for residents with personal fuel cards has been reduced from 30 litres (7.9 gallons) to 20 litres (5.2 gallons). He said the public should not worry about fuel supply as the disruption will be resolved soon, and that the step would be cancelled after ‘two or three days’. Earlier, the United States and Israel attacked five oil facilities around Iran’s capital. The strikes left four people dead. ‘Last night, four oil depots and an oil products transport hub in Tehran and Alborz were attacked by enemy aircraft,’ said Keramat Veyskarami, head of the National Iranian Oil Distribution Company, on state television, cited by AFP. Four personnel, including two tanker truck drivers, were killed in the incident. He said the energy infrastructure facilities sustained damage but the fire was brought under control. Following the attacks, smoke hung over the capital overnight, and a dense fog covered the city by morning. Residents reported a lingering smell of burning in the air. Veyskarami said Iran’s oil depots have ‘adequate gasoline stocks’.
