The Iranian government asserts that no external threat can damage the nation’s civilisation, which has deep roots spanning thousands of years. This statement comes as a direct response to the harsh rhetoric of United States President Donald Trump amid escalating conflict in the Middle East region.

Iranian government spokeswoman Fatemeh Mohajerani conveyed this assertion in response to Trump’s threats stating that Washington is prepared to destroy Iran’s entire civilisation if US demands are not met.

“A nation with full conviction in the truth of its path will mobilise all its capacity and capabilities to protect its legitimate rights and interests,” Mohajerani wrote on the X platform on Tuesday (7/4).

Mohajerani emphasised that national security remains Tehran’s top priority. She stated that Iran will manage this crisis situation with full caution but remain firm in defending its sovereignty.

Previously, Donald Trump issued a harsh ultimatum to bomb Iran’s vital infrastructure, including power plants and bridges across the country. This threat will be carried out if Tehran fails to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and reach a diplomatic agreement by the deadline of Tuesday at 20:00 EDT or Wednesday (8/4) at 07:00 WIB.

The military confrontation ongoing since the end of February has resulted in fallen casualties and significant infrastructure damage on both sides. Iran’s retaliatory strikes on several strategic points in the Middle East are reported to have disrupted global market stability broadly.

Despite immense military and economic pressure, Tehran, through Mohajerani’s statement, shows it will not back down. This tension now enters a crucial phase as Washington’s deadline expires, while the international community continues to monitor potential wider impacts on global security.
