Mobility along the Pantura route in Central Java has shown stable travel patterns with seasonal fluctuations, with Tegal Station serving as a key hub for passenger movement in the Daop 4 Semarang region. Throughout the first half of 2026, the station handled 962,544 passengers, comprising 475,476 boarding and 487,068 alighting. The figures underscore the high intensity of community travel in the northern Central Java corridor, driven largely by commuter needs, work-related journeys, education, and family mobility.

Luqman Arif, Public Relations Manager of KAI Daop 4 Semarang, stated that Tegal Station plays a strategic role in maintaining connectivity across the Pantura region. ‘Tegal Station continues to demonstrate its strategic importance as a primary service point for community mobility in the Pantura area. KAI Daop 4 Semarang is committed to maintaining operational reliability and improving service quality to ensure safe, comfortable, and punctual journeys,’ he said on Saturday (4/7).

Monthly data reveals dynamic passenger movement influenced by seasonal travel patterns. A significant increase was recorded in March 2026, indicating high mobility during the long holiday and religious observance period, while April saw a normalisation of travel flows. The monthly breakdown is as follows: January recorded 141,781 passengers (71,270 boarding, 70,511 alighting); February 124,859 (61,357 boarding, 63,502 alighting); March 207,907 (98,984 boarding, 108,923 alighting); April 152,504 (78,906 boarding, 73,598 alighting); May 163,186 (77,890 boarding, 85,296 alighting); and June 172,307 (87,069 boarding, 85,069 alighting).

Aggregate data confirms Tegal Station remains a vital mobility point in northern Java, supporting efficient inter-regional movement. The rail service also contributes to local economic activity, including labour access, trade distribution, and intercity connectivity along the Pantura corridor. KAI Daop 4 Semarang continues to strengthen services through operational optimisation, station facility upgrades, and enhanced passenger information systems to deliver a more reliable and accessible travel experience.
