PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) Operational Area 4 Semarang, Central Java, recorded that Tegal Station served 140,659 passengers during the school holiday period from 22 June to 12 July 2026. This figure comprised 71,722 arriving passengers and 68,937 departing passengers. Manager of Public Relations for KAI Daop 4 Semarang, Luqman Arif, stated that Tegal Station is a strategic transport hub supporting high public mobility during the school holidays, whether for tourism, family visits, or other activities. The highest number of passengers disembarking was recorded on 5 July 2026, with 4,546 passengers, while the highest number boarding on the same day reached 4,634 passengers. Popular train services during this period included the Kaligung, Airlangga, Joglosemarkerto, Kamandaka, and Menoreh trains. Favourite destinations from Tegal included Pasar Senen (Jakarta), Surabaya Pasar Turi, Gambir (Jakarta), Solo Balapan, and Purwokerto. Luqman added that KAI supported a government stimulus programme through the Ministry of Transportation by offering a 30 percent discount on economy class train tickets, aimed at boosting public mobility and economic growth. He affirmed KAI’s commitment to maintaining optimal service, safety, and comfort for all passengers.
