Tegal road crash claims 3 lives

SEMARANG, Central Java: A road accident claimed three lives and left 12 others injured in Maribaya village, Kramat district, Tegal regency, on Saturday evening.

Spokesman for the Central Java Police Lt. Col. M. Ramlie said the incident occurred when a Zebra, driven by 39-year-old Sukardi with ten passengers, had a high speed blowout and overturned.

At the same time, a speeding Isuzu car coming from the opposing direction but failed to slow down and smashed into the overturned van, Ramlie told reporters on Sunday.

The fatalities were identified as Woro, 44, the Isuzu's driver, and van's passengers Sri Hastutiningsih, 37 and Buyut Ceto, 10. The victim's families have been informed.

Meanwhile the injured are being treated at the Texin Hospital in Tegal. (har/emf)
