Tegal Raya Fishermen Still Sailing with Subsidised Diesel
PT Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Central Java has confirmed the availability and distribution of subsidised fuel oil (BBM) in Central Java and Yogyakarta are secure. This assurance includes meeting the needs of small fishermen in the Tegal Raya area and surrounding regions so they can continue sailing without supply issues.
The small fishermen in question are those with small-scale catches using vessels under 30 Gross Tonnage (GT). This status is proven by the fisherman’s certificate (PAS) issued by the local Marine and Fisheries Office (DKP). To date, these fishermen are well-served through Fisherman SPBU (SPBUN) or regular SPBU.
Based on official company data, subsidised diesel fuel stocks in the Central Java Regional area are currently at 14.4 times the normal daily consumption. Specifically for the Tegal area, stocks at SPBU reach 1.2 times daily consumption and are continuously reinforced with routine periodic supplies.
Area Manager for Communication, Relations, & CSR at PT Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Central Java, Taufiq Kurniawan, explained that the distribution mechanism is tightly regulated to ensure it reaches the right targets. Fishermen in Tegal can access subsidised diesel at several strategic points:
For coastal fishermen whose locations are far from SPBUN, refuelling can be done at all regular SPBU in the Tegal area by attaching an official recommendation letter from the local DKP as proof of profession validation.
Taufiq emphasised that fishermen with vessels over 30 GT are required to use non-subsidised BBM. This is because fishing activities on that scale are categorised as industrial according to government regulations.
“Fishermen with vessels under 30 GT are entitled to subsidised BBM through the Accurate Subsidy QR Code mechanism or DKP recommendation letter. We continue to maintain supply reliability so that economic activities in the fisheries sector run smoothly,” said Taufiq in an official statement on Monday (11/5/2026).
Pertamina urges the public, especially fishermen, to remain calm and avoid panic buying. The company is committed to continuing open communication with local governments and stakeholders to ensure energy distribution in coastal areas remains conducive.
