The Central Java Police have disclosed that Aiptu N, a member of the Tegal City Police currently under investigation for alleged abuse and drug use, has a history of ethical violations. The officer was previously sanctioned with a demotion. ‘He underwent a disciplinary hearing in 2010 for an alcohol-related case,’ said Central Java Police Head of Public Relations, Commissioner Artanto, during a press interview in Semarang on Monday. In that case, Aiptu N received a special placement and demotion sanction. Artanto added that in 2017, the officer faced another ethics hearing for engaging in sexual relations with a woman outside of his legal marriage. The current case marks his third ethical violation. The Central Java Police’s Professional and Internal Affairs Division has placed Aiptu N under a 20-day special placement. While the Central Java Police are handling the ethical breach, the criminal investigation, particularly the alleged abuse, is being managed by the National Police’s Criminal Investigation Agency. Artanto confirmed that the officer had entered into an unregistered marriage with the victim, identified as MAN, 30 years old, after beginning a relationship in 2023, despite already having a lawful spouse. He stressed that engaging in intimate relations outside of a legal marriage constitutes a violation of the Police Professional Code of Ethics.
