Tegal Alur Bridge Confirmed to be Completed Within a Week
The Head of the West Jakarta Water Resources Agency, Mustajerb, has stated that the construction of the pedestrian bridge in the Jalan Warung Pojok area, Tegal Alur, Kalideres, is set to be completed within the coming week.
According to him, the steel structure of the bridge is currently being fabricated by the developer, and installation at the site will follow shortly.
“It is currently being fabricated; hopefully, as promised, it can be completed and installed on-site within this week,” Mustajerb told ANTARA in Jakarta on Friday.
Mustajerb noted that the developer, PT Adhi Karya, had initially promised the project would be finished within two weeks starting from Tuesday (1 September). However, entering the fourth week, the steel structure remains in the fabrication stage.
“At that time, Adhi Karya promised it would be done as soon as possible. When asked how long ‘as soon as possible’ would be, they said two weeks,” said Mustajerb.
“What PT Adhi Karya has completed so far is the construction of the left and right bridge foundations. Only the installation of the structure remains, which should happen within this week.”
Previously, residents of Jalan Warung Pojok, Tegal Alur, Kalideres, West Jakarta, had planned to build a crossing independently if the construction by the Water Resources Agency was not continued by the end of September.
“The residents have agreed that if the work does not proceed by the end of this month, we will build our own bridge again, just like before,” said a local resident, Irwansyah, when met at the location on Monday (21 September).
Irwansyah explained that the option for a self-funded crossing was considered because the bridge, which was promised to be completed within two weeks from 1 September, had not been finished after three weeks.
“But a bamboo bridge cannot last long, especially during floods; it will certainly collapse,” added Irwansyah.
