Teenagers sentenced for extortion
YOGYAKARTA: The Yogyakarta District Court sentenced two
teenagers to six months imprisonment on Wednesday for their
involvement in extorting an American citizen.
Presiding judge Susmono said, the defendants, identified as
Kresnamurti Wicaksono, 16, alias Riky and Septian Prayitno, 15,
alias Ian, were found guilty of committing the extortion along
with at least 3 accomplices, Indra alias Acong who was still at
large, Binsar Jaya Kalianda and Ki Ronggo, both of whom were
already tried.
Antara reported that both Kresnamurti and Septian were guilty
of violating Article 369 of the Criminal Code on extortion.
According to Susmono, on March 13, the defendants and other
accomplices went to the home of Roy Davis Mark and pressured the
American to give them Rp 500 million or they were going to go
public with Mark's alleged actions Septian.
Earlier Septian had told his friends that he was forced by
Mark to have sexual intercourse. Mark however, later agreed to
give the teenagers Rp 75 million and other items of value.
Susmono said the verdict was lighter from the one proposed by
prosecutor Nur Sugihastuti, who had asked for a 12-month jail
sentence.
During the trial on Wednesday, the defendants returned a
cellular phone, two pairs of footwear, and Rp 4.5 million in
