Teenager killed in brawl

JAKARTA (JP): A teenage chicken vendor was killed in a case of mistaken identity early Friday morning during a brawl in Kampung Siluman, Bekasi, the father of the dead youth claimed on Friday.

Suparman, 17, was stabbed in the chest by a group of young men who thought that he was one of their enemies, Rosidi said.

Rosidi, a resident of Tambun subdistrict, said his son went with friends to see a movie playing at a makeshift village cinema in Kampung Siluman. He said that on the way home, Suparman was attacked by the group, who mistook him for somebody else.

"He tried to explain that he was not the one they were looking for, but they just didn't listen," Rosidi said from the morgue at Cipto Mangunkusumo General Hospital.

Suparman, the eldest son of Rosidi's three children, helped his mother who sells meat at a market in Bekasi. He quit school because his parents could no longer afford the education fees.

"He was a good boy. He never went out late at night," Rosidi said. (01)
