Teenager jailed for robbery
JAKARTA (JP): Central Jakarta Court sentenced yesterday a 16- year-old boy to six months in jail for stealing Rp 23,000 (US$7.90) from a woman.
Presiding judge A.G. Dewata said Supri robbed Desi Bruri after threatening her with a knife while she was in a bajaj (three- wheeled vehicle) on Jl. Pintu Besi, Central Jakarta, on June 19.
"I hope you return to your job as a shoe polisher after serving your sentence," Dewata said.
Desi gave her money to Supri, who was later arrested by a police officer in the area.
Supri denied that he stole Rp 23,000, saying that Desi only gave him Rp 2,000, but he accepted the sentence. (jun)
