Teenager in Tangerang Dies from Electrocution While Rescuing Belongings During Flood

An 18-year-old teenager identified as NJ died after severe flooding inundated his residence located in Pasar Kemis, Kabupaten Tangerang, Banten. The victim was electrocuted whilst attempting to salvage his belongings.

The Head of Criminal Investigation (Kanit Reskrim) at Pasar Kemis Police Station, Ipda Ahmad Dasuki, stated that the incident occurred on Sunday morning, 8 March. The victim initially attempted to unplug his personal computer whilst the flood began to inundate the area.

“At that time, the victim unplugged a computer device that was connected to the electrical current, and then was electrocuted,” Dasuki said when contacted on Monday, 9 March 2026.

The victim was transported to Bunda Sejahtera Hospital to receive medical treatment. However, upon arrival at the hospital, the medical team declared the victim deceased.

“The victim’s parents subsequently took the remains for religious funeral rites,” he added.
