Teenager in Pasar Rebo stabbed with a machete by motorcycle gang

Jakarta (ANTARA) – An 18-year-old teenager identified by initials FK has fallen victim to a stabbing believed to have been carried out by a group of motorcycle gang members on Jalan Telaga RT 13/09, Pekayon Kelurahan, Pasar Rebo District, East Jakarta, in the early hours of Tuesday 19 May. ‘We received information in the morning approaching midday that there was a stabbing victim by a motorcycle gang and the machete was still embedded in the head (right side),’ said AKP Lili, head of the Pasar Rebo Police Sector’s Criminal Investigation Unit, when contacted in Jakarta on Thursday. Lili said that after the attack, the perpetrators fled the scene. ‘After attacking and injuring the victim, the offenders fled,’ he added. Prior to the incident, the victim was reportedly on his way home to Jalan Mandala RT 01/02, Cijantung Kelurahan, Pasar Rebo District, East Jakarta. Seeing FK lying severely injured with a head wound, his friends immediately took him to the nearest hospital for medical treatment. Police only received information about the incident on Thursday morning, approaching midday. At the time the report was received, the victim was still in a critical condition due to the sharp weapon embedded in his head. The victim underwent medical treatment at RSUD Pasar Rebo. However, because his injuries were quite serious, the hospital referred FK to RS Polri Kramat Jati for further intensive care. To date, police are continuing to investigate in order to identify the attackers. Several people have been detained for questioning regarding the case. ‘We have already detained several people and are still taking their statements. Witnesses have also been asked for statements,’ Lili said. The frightening incident occurred around 04:30 WIB when the victim and several friends had just finished gathering at a coffee shop in the area. As they were preparing to head home, FK and his friends walked towards the motorcycle parking area. However, the situation suddenly turned grim when a group of youths arrived with sharp weapons. Without much conversation, the group suspected to be a motorcycle gang launched a brutal attack on FK and his companions. Unprepared for the sudden assault, the victims and their friends chose to run to save themselves. FK, trying to escape, was struck by a slash from a machete-type blade from the right. The weapon even embedded in the victim’s head, causing him to collapse, bleeding profusely at the scene.
