Teenager in Makassar Attacked with Bow and Arrow Triggered by a Running Race Bet

A teenager with the initials R (13) in Makassar, South Sulawesi, was attacked by three teenagers using a bow and arrow, causing injuries to his abdomen. The attack was triggered by a bet on a running race, which allegedly offended the group of perpetrators.

Panit 1 Opsnal Reskrim Polsek Rappocini, Ipda Suprianto, explained that the incident occurred on Jalan Kelapa 3, Ballaparang Village, Rappocini District, on Wednesday (25/2). The three teenagers who were secured have the initials MF (17), MAB (14), and YAR (15).

“The incident began when the group of perpetrators and the group of victims made an agreement through the Instagram social media platform to hold a bet on a running race at the location,” said Suprianto, as reported by detikSulsel, Thursday (26/2/2026).

The race ended with the group of perpetrators as the winners. However, after the race, a misunderstanding occurred because one of the perpetrator’s friends was allegedly mocked by the group of victims.

“Because they could not accept it, the perpetrators returned to the location where the victim was,” said Ipda Suprianto.

The perpetrators suddenly took a launcher and bow and arrow from the dashboard of a motorcycle. However, the bow and arrow launcher was broken.

Because the launcher could not be used, MF then used the arrow to injure the victim directly. The arrow was lodged in the victim’s abdomen.
