Teenager Drowns While Swimming at Pasir Putih Beach, Karangasem

I Gede Dwi PS (16), a teenager from Bebandem, Karangasem, died after drowning while swimming at Pasir Putih Beach, Bugbug Village, Karangasem, on Sunday afternoon (17/5/2026). The Head of Bugbug Village, I Gede Diatmaja, said that local fishermen and residents had tried to help. Unfortunately, he could not be saved after briefly sinking to the bottom of the sea.

“Based on the information I received, the teenager was swimming with some of his friends. Then suddenly a large wave came and dragged the victim out to sea,” said Diatmaja, Sunday (17/5/2026) night.

According to gathered information, the teenager came to Pasir Putih Beach with 12 of his friends. Upon arrival, they immediately started swimming. A few moments later, the victim shouted for help because he was being dragged by the waves.

Some of his friends tried to help. Unfortunately, the victim was quickly swept out to sea. Residents then immediately used a small boat to go out to sea to rescue the victim.

A little while later, the victim was finally found drowned at the bottom of the sea and immediately evacuated to be taken to the shore. The victim was then given first aid while waiting for an ambulance to arrive.

As soon as the ambulance arrived, the victim was rushed to the Karangasem Regional Hospital. However, after being examined by the medical team, the victim was declared dead.
