Teenager Arrested in Bogor After Caught Stealing Mosque Donation Box
A teenager, identified by the initials RA, was caught stealing money from a mosque’s donation box in Wanaherang Village, Gunung Putri District, Bogor, West Java. The perpetrator was apprehended by the management of the Mosque Prosperity Council (DKM).
Gunung Putri Police Chief, Commissioner Hillal Adi Himawan, stated that the incident occurred last Friday (4/9). The perpetrator used a tool to pry money out of the donation box.
“An alleged theft of money from a donation box occurred, carried out by first inserting a thin stick through the slot of the mosque’s donation box,” he said on Saturday (5/9/2026).
The perpetrator managed to flee with a certain amount of money, but the act was discovered by the DKM management after they reviewed CCTV footage inside the mosque.
“Subsequently, on the same day and date, the DKM management successfully secured the individual, RA,” he explained.
The DKM management then contacted the police to take the perpetrator into custody. The police subsequently took the individual along with the evidence, which included the donation box.
“After interrogation, it was found that the perpetrator is a minor,” he added.
Meanwhile, the DKM management did not file an official police report regarding the incident. The perpetrator was subsequently returned to and escorted to his family.
