Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya stated that the affordable market event at Monumen Nasional (Monas) was attended by hundreds of thousands of people. The event, titled Affordable Market for the People, was held by the Presidential Palace on the orders of President Prabowo Subianto.

The affordable market took place on Saturday, 28 March 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. WIB. According to Teddy, the police reported around 100,000 people at the initial opening of the affordable market.

As the night progressed, Teddy said, the affordable market became increasingly crowded. “It got busier and busier, possibly 200,000,” Teddy said in a written statement on Saturday night, 29 March 2026.

He stated that the Presidential Palace prepared portions of food for 300,000 people. “The report earlier said it was almost finished, meaning (the attendees) were more than that (200,000 people),” he said.

Teddy said the government is opening opportunities to make similar events a ongoing agenda in the future. He said this activity is a form of the government’s commitment to continuously bring happiness to the community. “This is the first time, of course, the President wants the best, so it will definitely be regular,” he said.

Prabowo previously ordered his subordinates to hold an affordable market event for Jakarta residents. The event, filled with a bazaar, lucky draw prizes, and public entertainment, was held in the Silang Monumen Nasional area on Saturday, 28 March 2026.

“Still in the atmosphere of Eid al-Fitr, on the instructions of President Prabowo, this afternoon at the Monumen Nasional (Monas) grounds, the Palace will once again welcome residents,” in an explanation on the Instagram account @sekretariat.kabinet.

Based on the Cabinet Secretariat’s statement, this affordable market event is intended for the Capital’s residents, both those who did not go home for Eid and those who have returned to Jakarta after the Lebaran holiday.

The Presidential Palace prepared 100,000 shopping vouchers for free goods and basic necessities worth Rp500,000. There were also 300,000 free meals prepared by 800 micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) street vendors.

This people’s bazaar involved traders from Tanah Abang Market, Senen Market, and various other markets in Jakarta. In addition, the event prepared various prizes through a lucky draw or door prize system. The prizes provided include 1,000 bicycles and 100 electric motorbikes.
