Teddy on Cabinet Reshuffle: The President Will Tell Later

Cabinet Secretary Lieutenant Colonel Teddy Indra Wijaya was brief in his comments regarding the issue of a reshuffle, or overhaul, of the Merah Putih Cabinet under the leadership of President Prabowo Subianto. Teddy neither confirmed nor denied when asked if there were plans for a reshuffle in the near future.

He merely asked the public to await official news of the reshuffling of the President’s aides. “Just wait,” Teddy said briefly, at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta, on Tuesday, 7 April 2026.

Teddy was again asked whether the cabinet overhaul would take place in April 2026, but he declined to answer directly. He only stated that President Prabowo would explain. “Later, the President will tell the story,” he said.

The reshuffle issue has surfaced several times since the beginning of this year. At the end of January 2026, the rumour gained traction after Prabowo’s nephew, Thomas Djiwandono, was appointed as Deputy Governor of Bank Indonesia. Thomas’s appointment automatically left vacant the position of Deputy Minister of Finance, which he had previously held.

The news proved true when President Prabowo inaugurated former Deputy Governor of Bank Indonesia, Juda Agung, to fill that position. Thomas and Juda swapped positions.

Subsequently, news of a cabinet reshuffle also circulated when another nephew of Prabowo, Budisatrio Djiwandono, was said to join the cabinet, according to Utut Adianto, Chairman of Commission I of the House of Representatives. Utut made that statement during a working meeting with the Ministry of Defence and the Indonesian National Armed Forces on Monday, 26 January.

Meanwhile, ahead of Ramadan 1447 Hijriah or in February, State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi stated there were no plans for a cabinet overhaul. According to Prasetyo, he had repeatedly denied the reshuffle issue. “There is no reshuffle,” said the Gerindra Party politician at Gambir Station, Central Jakarta, on Tuesday, 10 February 2026.

Prasetyo mentioned at that time that the government was focused on ensuring activities throughout Ramadan until Eid ran smoothly. At that point, he also said the government was endeavouring to lighten the economic burden on the community during Ramadan and Eid, especially for the poor and extremely poor.
