Teddy Confirms Prabowo Personally Covers Foreign Travel Costs When Budget Exceeded

Cabinet Secretary Lieutenant Colonel Teddy Indra Wijaya stated that any foreign travel costs exceeding the allocated budget are personally covered by President Prabowo Subianto. ‘Regarding foreign travel expenses, this has been explained multiple times – any costs exceeding the government’s allocated budget are entirely borne by President Prabowo personally,’ Teddy said on the Cabinet Secretariat’s official account on Monday, 1 June 2026 evening. The statement was made in response to comments from former Deputy Foreign Minister Dino Patti Djalal regarding Prabowo’s foreign trips. Dino had raised concerns about high foreign travel budgets due to costs for entourage, hotels, protocol, and security, and suggested Prabowo reduce foreign trips and provide diplomatic suggestions to other countries. Responding to the criticism, Teddy also addressed the size of Prabowo’s entourage during foreign visits, claiming it has significantly decreased compared to previous administrations. According to Teddy, the number of people in Prabowo’s foreign delegation now is only 50-60 at most. ‘During President Prabowo’s tenure, the number is a maximum of 50-60 people. This is widely known, including by journalists,’ Teddy added.
