Technology Investment and Aggressive Expansion: Mayapada Strengthens Oncology Business
The Mayapada Hospital network, operated by PT Sejahteraraya Anugerahjaya Tbk (SRAJ), is strengthening its oncology services through the adoption of cutting-edge imaging technology, namely PET-CT Scan and SPECT-CT Scan. Dr Lim Andreas, a Nuclear Medicine Specialist at Mayapada Hospital South Jakarta, explained that this technology allows medical personnel to detect diseases at the cellular and molecular levels. With this capability, PET-CT and SPECT-CT can identify abnormal cells earlier than conventional imaging methods, which typically focus on the body’s anatomical structures. “The presence of this technology aims to improve patient treatment outcomes, particularly in oncology. With PET-CT Scan and SPECT-CT Scan, patients no longer need to move between hospitals for a series of examinations, therapy, and post-treatment monitoring. All services are now integrated at Mayapada Hospital,” he said in Jakarta on Friday (24/4/2026). Ongoing Expansion Currently, PET-CT and SPECT-CT services are only available at Mayapada Hospital South Jakarta. However, the expansion of this technology is part of the Mayapada Healthcare network’s development agenda. Chief Operating Officer of Mayapada Healthcare, Hendy Widjaja, revealed that both technologies will soon be available at Mayapada facilities in Tangerang and Surabaya. In addition, the company is preparing to build a dedicated cancer services building, targeted for completion in 2026. “Next month, we will also open our eighth Mayapada Hospital in Garden City, East Jakarta. This is part of our very aggressive development,” he told the media. In the medium term, over the next two years, Mayapada also plans to introduce oncology services in Bandung. On the other hand, Mayapada Hospital South Jakarta is currently expanding its cancer services capacity through the construction of Tower 3. The new tower will focus on strengthening oncology services, from adding treatment rooms and outpatient services, specialist doctors, to integrating the latest medical technology. Regarding the Domestic Component Level (TKDN), Lim stated that PET-CT and SPECT-CT technologies still fully rely on imported products. “Unlike other medical devices that may already have a certain TKDN level, PET-CT Scan and SPECT-CT Scan are still considered high technology where all devices are brought in from abroad,” he added. In bringing this diagnostic technology, Mayapada Healthcare collaborates with strategic partner Siemens Healthineers. The collaboration not only covers the provision of technology but also strengthens the competencies of medical personnel through knowledge transfer programmes, from the installation stage to optimisation in clinical practice.
