Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia — Danantara is holding the Technology Innovation Investment Forum (TIIF) 2026 over three days. Around 1,500 people registered, alongside a number of invitees from Indonesia and abroad.

Participants also include industry representatives, government bodies, institutions and a range of universities.

“We have quite a number of memoranda of understanding and agreements to sign with domestic and overseas companies, as well as universities. We will begin mapping and matching, including identifying how our state-owned industries under Danantara can be supported by universities—not only those with relevant expertise, but also institutions located near our industries,” Danantara Chief Technology Officer Sigit Puji Santosa said at the forum in Jakarta on Monday (26 October 2026).

Asked about the event’s strategic value, Sigit said the aim was to develop industry beyond labour-intensive sectors, while concentrating efforts and prioritising technology- and innovation-based industries.

He added that research and development and innovation-based technology also require substantial funding.

Danantara wants to pursue partnerships that can be put to immediate use by industry. The aim is for Indonesia not merely to adopt technology, but to become a pioneer in industry.

“At Danantara, we, as chief technology officers, are allocating partnerships to build innovation that we can implement directly in industry. In the future, Danantara should not simply adopt what others have done; we should also become pioneers and build a strong industrial base,” Sigit said.

Sigit also said investment could reach US$20–30 billion over the next two to three years, with the possibility of exceeding that figure.

“We want to go beyond that. Several industries have already been identified in the five sectors: energy; food and health; minerals and advanced materials; semiconductors; infrastructure, digital and mobility; and defence. These are all very large sectors,” Sigit said. “I think US$20–30 billion is achievable, but we believe we could go higher.”
