Google, the American technology giant, has completed its acquisition of Israeli cybersecurity company Wiz for $32 billion, making it the largest acquisition in Google’s history. The deal was finalised approximately one year after being initially announced by both companies.

Wiz will join Google Cloud, Google’s computing services division, whilst maintaining its own brand identity and commitment to protecting customers across various cloud environments. Wiz is recognised as a provider of cloud security platforms that shield large cloud environments from various cyber threats whilst helping companies prevent and respond to digital attacks.

Sources familiar with the transaction indicated that the acquisition was completed after Wiz exceeded $1 billion in annual recurring revenue in 2025. Google described the move as a major investment to strengthen cloud security amid growing adoption of cloud computing technology and artificial intelligence (AI).

“This acquisition is an investment by Google Cloud to enhance cloud security and enable organisations to build quickly and safely across different cloud platforms or AI environments,” Google stated, as reported by TechCrunch on 12 March 2026.

The move is considered strategically sound as many large enterprises now operate systems across multiple cloud services simultaneously, including Google Cloud, Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, and Oracle Cloud. By acquiring Wiz, Google attracts more corporate clients through a multi-cloud security platform capable of protecting multiple systems concurrently.

Going forward, Google and Wiz will develop an integrated security platform to help enterprises respond to cyber threats more rapidly. This need has become increasingly urgent as AI-driven development practices and prompt-based attacks have created more security vulnerabilities.

Wiz has already leveraged AI technology to improve its threat detection and investigation capabilities across every layer of cloud systems, from code and infrastructure through to runtime environments.

Google previously attempted to acquire Wiz in 2024 for $23 billion, but the offer was rejected. Wiz Chief Executive Officer Assaf Rappaport stated at the time that his company still possessed far greater growth potential.

Acquisition discussions resumed in early 2025. Google announced its plan to purchase Wiz for $32 billion in March 2025. The deal was finalised after receiving approval from American and European regulators in November 2025 and February 2026 respectively, following antitrust investigations.
