"Tech. For Family": CHERY Introduces VPD, the New Generation Smart Parking Feature That's More Humane
Beijing (ANTARA/PRNewswire) - CHERY has introduced the latest VPD (Valet Parking Driver) technology globally under the “Tech. For Family” theme on 22 April. This technology brings two main features: One-Tap Departure and One-Step Homecoming, which address parking challenges—a problem experienced by around 93% of drivers worldwide.
With the One-Tap Departure feature, the car automatically approaches the user. With just one tap via the app, the car will exit the parking spot and navigate the route to the user’s location. In complex conditions, this feature relies on intelligent technology equivalent to gaming-grade intelligence to avoid obstacles without sudden braking.
Meanwhile, the One-Step Homecoming feature provides convenience for users after a full day of activities. Upon entering the garage, the driver simply steps out of the vehicle and activates the parking feature via the app. The car then independently searches for a parking spot. If the intended spot is occupied, the system will automatically adjust the route—offering better time efficiency for users.
At the event, CHERY executive Aaron Zheng demonstrated the VPD’s capabilities by manoeuvring in a very narrow parking area with international media. Field tests also showcased the system’s ability to dynamically respond to pedestrians, as well as to smoothly avoid obstacles.
CHERY’s VPD technology will begin to be applied to the TIGGO 7 and TIGGO 8 models in the Middle East and Southeast Asia regions in 2026. This innovation will transform the driving experience—when vehicles become smarter, every journey becomes more serene, and every homecoming feels warmer.
