Teater Koma back on stage

JAKARTA (JP): Actors from Teater Koma perform a scene from
Republik Bagong, a story taken from wayang (shadow puppet) tales
but adapted with a twist to the very modern conditions of today
in Indonesia.

The play, written and directed by N. Riantiarno and with a
cast including acclaimed monolog actor Butet Kartaredjasa as
Bagong, Budi Ros as Semar and Emanuel Handoyo as Gareng, will be
performed at Graha Bhakti Budaya in Taman Ismail Marzuki (tel.
3154087) from Friday until May 6.

Republik Bagong is the first part of a trilogy which includes
Presiden Bagong in the second part and Bagong in the third. It is
the 94th play by Teater Koma, renowned as one of the country's
foremost theater groups. (brc)
