Tears of joy as resident wins electric motorcycle at Kramat Jati People's Feast
A housewife named Nining wept with emotion after winning an electric motorcycle at the Jamuan Rakyat (People’s Feast) event held in Kramat Jati, East Jakarta.
“Oh Allah, I really did not expect this. I waited for the coupon number, then the question changed, and I could answer it,” said Nining in Kramat Jati, East Jakarta, on Tuesday.
The Kampung Tengah resident explained that she earns a living selling doughnuts door-to-door and that her child wanted a motorcycle after recently graduating from Politeknik Negeri Jakarta (PNJ).
“It is very useful. My child has just graduated from PNJ, so I immediately said it is a blessing from Allah SWT,” Nining said.
Since 7.00 a.m. Western Indonesia Time, residents of Kramat Jati, East Jakarta, had been arriving in droves. They brought coupons to wait for the draw of electronic goods and the main prize of a motorcycle.
The people’s party was organised by the East Jakarta Metropolitan Police to enliven the 81st Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia.
After several winning numbers were drawn with no one present to claim them, the host then changed the format to a question.
“Who accompanied the reading of the proclamation text?” Alfian asked the crowd at the event.
“Bapak Muhammad Hatta,” shouted a woman named Nining.
Nining’s correct answer led to her being called up to the stage together with the organising committee and the East Jakarta Metropolitan Police Chief.
Alfian then symbolically handed over the electric motorcycle prize to Nining and asked her to ride the motorcycle after winning the draw.
The eleven locations are spread across the sub-districts of Cipayung, Ciracas, Duren Sawit, Kramat Jati, Matraman, Pasar Rebo, and Pulogadung, with one location each, while Cakung and Jatinegara sub-districts each have two locations.
The activity was held as a form of independence celebration with the community. Its implementation involved government officials and community elements under the sub-district leadership (Muspika) in the East Jakarta area.
The People’s Party is also a follow-up to the directive of President Prabowo Subianto through the State Secretary Ministry (Mensesneg).
