JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Videographer Amsal Christy Sitepu cried while complaining to Commission III of the DPR about the injustice he experienced in the case of the village profile video production project in Karo Regency, North Sumatra.

Amsal appeared to express his case via Zoom from North Sumatra, accompanied by Commission III DPR member Hinca Panjaitan, on Monday (30/3/2026).

While explaining the case that befell him, Amsal suddenly cried and wiped his nose and eyes with tissue.

Hinca, who was sitting next to him, immediately patted Amsal’s shoulder.

Amsal then briefly explained the proposal submission process he carried out. He said that all video editing services were considered to have a value of Rp 0 by the prosecutor.

“There is an idea, the value of that idea in the proposal is Rp 2 million. Editing Rp 1 million, cutting Rp 1 million, dubbing 1 million, clip-on or microphone Rp 900,000, which totals Rp 5.9 million, all of this is considered Rp 0 by the auditor as well as the Public Prosecutor,” he said.

“So that’s a brief story of making this village profile video, today I am only seeking justice,” he continued with a choked voice because of crying.

Amsal emphasised that he is just a creative economy worker.

“I am only seeking justice, Sir. I am just an ordinary creative economy worker, Sir. I have no authority over the budget, Sir. Simply put, I am just selling,” said Amsal.

Amsal conveyed that if the village profile video production proposal was too expensive, or there was a price discrepancy, the village head should have rejected it.

Amsal also asked for help from Commission III of the DPR so that the people’s representatives could help him seek justice.

The Chairman of Commission III of the DPR, Habiburokhman, who attended the meeting at the DPR Building, Senayan, Jakarta, claimed they would help Amsal.

The alleged corruption case ensnaring the videographer from North Sumatra, Amsal Christy Sitepu, has become the focus of public attention.
