A somber atmosphere enveloped the funeral home of the late Dr Eliza Princia Utami Pakaeni, known as Dr Icha, in RSS Baumata Housing, West Baumata Village, Taebenu District, Kupang Regency, on Monday (29/6).

Hundreds of mourners, including family, acquaintances, relatives, and local residents, crowded the funeral home to offer condolences and pay their final respects to the 27-year-old doctor.

At the funeral home, Dr Icha’s parents, Nur Azizah and Gabriel Pakaenoni, were seen weeping inconsolably beside the coffin.

Attendees continued to arrive throughout the day to pay their final respects to the deceased.

At approximately 11:00 WITA, the funeral mass for Dr Icha commenced, led by Father Valens Boy and attended by hundreds of mourners. The mass concluded with a blessing for the deceased, during which the family’s grief once again broke out in loud weeping.

Dr Icha was found dead by hanging in her home on Friday afternoon (26/6).

It is alleged that Dr Icha took her own life after suffering from depression caused by intimidation from three members of the North Central Timor (TTU) Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) while treating a paediatric patient bitten by a snake in the Emergency Department of Leona Kefamenanu General Hospital on 13 June 2026.

The three DPRD TTU members alleged to have intimidated Dr Icha are Therezius Lazakar (Golkar), Robert Tubani (PKB), and Veronika Lake (PDIP).

The North Central Timor Police Chief, AKBP Eliana Papoteh, revealed that summons have been issued to the three DPRD members to seek clarification regarding the alleged intimidation.

She stated that summons letters for the three DPRD TTU members were sent some time ago and examinations were scheduled for today, Monday (29/6).

Dr Icha was born in Cirebon on 21 July 1998, and was the eldest of three siblings. She completed her medical degree at Nusa Cendana University in 2020.
