Tearful remorse from model who spread hoax claiming she was mugged
A model identified by the initials AJDV alias AWS cried after undergoing questioning at Polda Metro Jaya. She was interrogated in connection with the spread of false information that she had become a victim of a mugging in Kebon Jeruk, West Jakarta.
According to detikcom’s summary on Friday (22 May 2026), rumours initially circulated that AJDV had become a mugging victim in Kebon Jeruk, Jakbar. Police subsequently checked the location and the hospital.
In the circulating narratives on social media, it was stated that AJDV was in critical condition as a result of the incident. It was claimed the incident occurred while the victim was riding an online motorcycle taxi service along the Kebon Jeruk toll road. The exact time of the incident was not specified, but the narratives claimed the victim sustained a stab wound to the head. The rider transporting the victim reportedly sustained a gash on the arm.
Head of Public Relations of Metro Jaya Police, Kombes Budi Hermanto, said police had gone to the scene of the incident (TKP) to verify.
“Regarding the information circulating about an alleged mugging of a model in Kebon Jeruk, Kebon Jeruk Police Sector and the Jakarta Barat Metro Police Criminal Investigation Unit have conducted an initial check at the location suspected to be the scene and visited Sumber Waras Hospital to verify its truth,” he said in a statement on Monday (18/5).
Police also visited the hospital to verify the victim. However, from the checks at the hospital, there was no patient with the name mentioned.
“From preliminary checks, there was no patient data under the name mentioned in the posts within the last month,” he added.
Not a Mugging Victim
Police then conducted a series of investigations into the rumours. It turned out the model was not a mugging victim.
“We explain that from the Directorate of Victims and Women Protection (PPA) and PPO together with the Jakarta Barat PPA, Kebun Jeruk Police, accompanied by UPT P3A and Psychology, including the Forensic Medicine Unit of Polda Metro Jaya, proactively visited Ms. AWS and have interrogated her,” said the Public Relations Head of Metro Jaya, Kombes Budi Hermanto, on Wednesday (20/5).
“We emphasise that the individual in question was not a victim of mugging or any other criminal act,” he added.
Muse Wants to Glorify Viral Mugging
Police revealed AJDV’s motive for spreading the hoax. Police said, based on her confession, she spread the hoax out of mischief.
“What is the motive? First, for mischief, second to glorify viral incidents about mugging. This has been visited this afternoon and a deeper probe has been conducted. So we have decided that the person in question is not a victim of a criminal event,” said the Public Relations Head of Metro Jaya Police, Kombes Budi Hermanto, quoted on Thursday (21/5).
Moreover, Budi Hermanto urged the public to be prudent in using social media. He urged residents not to spread news that misleads and causes public unrest.
“Metro Jaya Police have provided psychological support to the person involved and we concluded from the depth investigations that she is not a victim of any criminal event,” he stated.
Muse Crying
Police had questioned AJDV at Polda Metro Jaya. After the interrogation, AJDV was seen crying uncontrollably.
“Yes (she was interrogated) at the Siber Directorate to seek explanation from the person concerned,” said the Public Relations Head of Metro Jaya Police, Kombes Budi Hermanto when contacted by reporters on Thursday (21/5).
He said the interrogation had started earlier that afternoon. Detikcom monitoring showed AJDV left the interrogation room at around 20:26 WIB.
She was seen wearing a blue jacket. Her face was covered by a mask and her head was covered by a hoodie.
As she left, AJDV was accompanied by a woman and two police officers. She only cried when questioned by reporters and then left the scene.
Head Wound Turns Out to be a Boil
Police sought details from AJDV about her posting, including a photo of a head wound which turned out to be a boil.
“This has been studied, including a forensic examination (visum et repertum) of the wound. We reiterate that the wound was a boil that erupted, not a slash wound from the mugger,” said the Public Relations Head of Metro Jaya Police, Kombes Pol Budi Hermanto, at a press conference at Mapolda Metro Jaya on Friday (22/5).
Budi explained the case initially gained traction from social media posts about the alleged mugging. Subsequently, the Directorate of Victims and Women Protection (PPA-PPO), the Sub-Directorate PPA-PPO Jakarta Barat, Kebun Jeruk Police, and the Forensic Medicine unit of Polda Metro Jaya intervened to meet AJDV.
“Yesterday, when an invitation for clarification was issued by the Siber Directorate of Polda Metro Jaya to probe the motive of the person concerned,” he explained.
Police then noted a possibility of an effort to build public opinion through a narrative of a crime victim. And it is now known that this was a hoax.
