Teachers upset with salary cut

KENDARI, Southeast Sulawesi: Elementary teachers at Kabaena subdistrict in Buton regency are complaining about the Rp 30,000 monthly cut imposed on their salary.

"We've voiced this problem to the regent so many times, including the latest via a letter dated on April 30. But still the authorities do nothing to help us," Djumiati, a teacher, told Antara on Tuesday.

According to the teachers, salaries have been cut Rp 25,000 for unknown reasons in the past three years and another Rp 5,000 recently.
