Teachers take warship trip
SURABAYA: A total of 1,200 primary and secondary school teachers from East Java will take a two-day cruise along the coast of the Java Sea aboard the Teluk Semangka warship.
The first group of 300 teachers went on the "fun sailing trip" on Monday, Eddy Irawan of the Navy's Eastern Fleet said.
The activity is being held jointly by the Eastern Fleet, the East Java administration and the provincial office of the Ministry of Education and Culture, Antara reported yesterday.
"How can teachers explain about the progress of our marine development if they don't know anything about the subject?" Governor Basofi Sudirman said. (swe)
