Teacher's killer nabbed in Cirebon
JAKARTA (JP): After two weeks of searching, city police finally apprehended the alleged mastermind of killing and robbing, a 42-year-old teacher in Tebet, South Jakarta, following the arrest of his accomplice last week.
Agus Budiman Said, 23, was arrested by a group of awaiting Jakarta Police detectives at Akita hotel in Cirebon, West Java early Sunday, said city police spokesman Lt. Col. Edward Aritonang.
He was then taken to the city police headquarters for further investigation.
"Agus was caught while having fun in the hotel's discotheque." Aritonang said, adding that police had confiscated a black Honda Tiger 2000 sports motorcycle from the suspect.
To the interrogators, Agus admitted that he had carefully planned the robbery at the house of his distant relative, Johan Pahlevi, to meet his demand of cash money for his wedding.
He had, for example, duplicated the keys of the house on Jl. C at the Bank Indonesia housing complex in Tebet.
Agus then carried out the plan with Muhammad Habib, 19, who was arrested on Oct. 17 at an Islamic boarding school in Depok.
According to Agus, he killed Johan's wife, Ratna Suryati, because the housewife had made him angry as she tried to ask him to leave by scolding him.
"Agus got irritated and offended so he turned violent and attacked Ratna, although he admitted that he was 100 percent conscious when he was doing all the wrongdoing," Aritonang said.
Ratna's body was found by her fifth child, Mudi Yuliani, 11, with multiple stab wounds and a slashed throat, lying on the floor of the living room. (emf)
