Teachers continue strike in Muna

KENDARI, Southeast Sulawesi: A massive teacher strike in Muna regency here has entered its 11th day on Thursday, with little resolution in sight.

The teacher strike has disrupted education in the various levels of schools in the regency, from elementary to senior high schools, hurting the students who fall behind on their studies with each passing day. The strike stemmed from an alleged beating of a principal by a local policeman.

The teacher's union in the regency vowed that they would continue the strike until serious action was taken to bring the officer to justice. -- JP
