Teacher in South Sumatra Dies After Being Stabbed by Burglar, Suspect Allegedly a Student

A female teacher in Ogan Komering Ulu Selatan, South Sumatra, named Sri Khodijah (47), died after being stabbed by a burglar in her home. Buay Pemaca Police Chief Ipda Redi Saputra explained that the incident began when the victim arrived at her house on Tuesday (9/6). At that time, the victim caught a burglar inside her home. “The suspect allegedly panicked, immediately grabbed a knife from the kitchen and stabbed the victim in the stomach. After that, the suspect fled, leaving the victim,” he told reporters on Sunday (14/6). Redi explained that the victim managed to run out of the house and ask neighbours for help. The victim was then immediately rushed to Muaradua Regional General Hospital and underwent intensive care. He stated that the victim was later referred to a hospital in Palembang but could not be saved and died on Thursday (11/6). Redi said the family had reported the burglary and stabbing to the police. Officers have also processed the crime scene and examined witnesses. He explained that from the crime scene investigation, a 35-centimetre kitchen knife, believed to have been used by the suspect to stab the victim, was found. “From the statements of witnesses and the victim while she was still alive, the suspect is a minor and a female student at Buay Pemaca Junior High School,” he said. Redi revealed that after gathering statements from witnesses, his team went to the suspect’s house, but she and her parents had already fled. “We have the suspect’s identity and are currently still pursuing the suspect and her parents,” he concluded.
