Teacher files unfair dismissal complaint

JAKARTA: The former vice principal of city-run high school (SMU) 90, Hamidah, reported principal Djamilah to the National Commission on Human Rights (Komnas HAM) on Thursday over her dismissal last year.

Hamidah said she and two other vice principals, Muhaimin and Sumarto, were dismissed on Nov. 30 without warning or cause.

"Muhaimin and me brought the case to the South Jakarta District Court because we believe the principal violated regulations on the rotation of vice principals," she said in front of the Komnas HAM office in Central Jakarta.

Hamidah said that after she brought the case to the court she received a lot of pressure from the Jakarta Education Agency to drop the complaint.

"I am asking for protection from Komnas HAM so I don't ... receive any more threats," she said. -- JP
