Teacher at Islamic Boarding School in Central Lombok Allegedly Sodomised Four Students, Threatening to Expose Their Smoking Habit
The modus operandi of a teacher at an Islamic boarding school (Ponpes) with the initials MYA in Pujut District, Central Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), who sodomised four students, has been revealed. MYA threatened the victims if they did not satisfy his lust.
“He threatened his students, stating that if they refused, he would reveal their violations of the school’s rules,” said the Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit (Kasat Reskrim) of the Central Lombok Police, AKP Punguan Hutahaean, to detikBali via WhatsApp, Friday (15/5/2026).
MYA exploited the students’ mistakes to pressure them. One of the violations used as a threat was the habit of smoking.
“Based on the suspect’s statement, the threats included smoking,” he said.
The case was revealed after one of the victims fell ill. Medical examination revealed that the victim had a sexually transmitted disease.
“It started with a health examination of the victim, which revealed that he had a sexually transmitted disease,” added Punguan.
The victim then bravely reported to the head of the Islamic boarding school about the alleged abuse he had experienced. After further investigation, the police found three other students who were also allegedly victims of MYA.
“The victim then reported to the head of the Islamic boarding school that MYA had committed an act of abuse (sodomy) against him,” he said.
The police have questioned a number of witnesses in connection with the case. In addition to the one victim, there are also three other students who are also victims of the abuse. The victims are still students at the junior high school level at the Islamic boarding school.
“The victims come from a number of villages in the Pujut District, Central Lombok Regency,” said Punguan.
For his actions, MYA is charged with Article 473 paragraph 3 letter a and paragraph 4 and/or Article 415 letter b of Law Number 1 of 2023 of the Criminal Code and/or Article 15 letter e of Law Number 12 of 2022 concerning Criminal Acts of Sexual Violence (TPKS). He faces a maximum prison sentence of 15 years.
Currently, MYA has been secured and detained at the Central Lombok Police Headquarters. The police ensured that the legal process would run professionally while also paying attention to the psychological recovery of the victims.
Previously, the Central Lombok Police had named MYA as a suspect in the abuse case. MYA is suspected of sodomising four of his students in Pujut District, Central Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB).
“Today, we have named MYA as a suspect in the abuse case against his students,” said the Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit, AKP Punguan Hutahaean, to detikBali, Thursday (14/5/2026).
Punguan revealed that the abuse case by the teacher at the Islamic boarding school was revealed after one of the victims experienced health problems. Based on the results of a medical examination, the victim was found to have a sexually transmitted disease.
“It started with a health examination of the victim, which revealed that he had a sexually transmitted disease,” added Punguan.
According to Punguan, the victim then reported the incident to the head of the Islamic boarding school. The victim stated that he had been sodomised by MYA.
