Teacher arrested for drugs
DENPASAR, Bali: Police here have arrested a female school teacher under suspicion of being a member of a major drug ring.
Bali Police's Narcotics Division chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Wayan Suwena identified the suspect on Tuesday as a 39-year-old junior high school teacher in Singaraja, a harbor city some 80 kilometers north of here.
"We arrested her three days ago, and up to now she is still being intensively questioned by our officers," Suwena said.
No further details were given.
"The suspect is believed to be part of a large network of drug-dealers that mainly operates in Jakarta and Bali. Her areas of operation were Singaraja and the prime tourism area of Lovina beach," Suwena added.
Along with the arrest, police confiscated two small packages, weighing around one gram, of crystal methamphetamine, also known as shabu-shabu from the teacher. (zen)
