Teacher Allowances Increased and Transferred Directly to Accounts Monthly

Minister of Primary and Secondary Education Abdul Mu’ti has confirmed that the government is implementing a new scheme for distributing teacher allowances by transferring funds directly to recipients’ accounts every month. This policy is part of the government’s efforts to improve teacher welfare while cutting bureaucratic processes in the disbursement of allowances. “What is also different as a breakthrough is that the allowance and salary are transferred directly to the teacher’s account each month,” Mu’ti said during a press conference at Merdeka Palace in Central Jakarta on Thursday. He stated that the policy aligns with President Prabowo Subianto’s commitment to improving the welfare of educators. In addition to improving the distribution mechanism, the government has also increased the amount of allowances for both civil servant (ASN) and non-civil servant teachers. According to Mu’ti, the allowance for non-civil servant teachers has been raised from Rp1.5 million to Rp2 million. Meanwhile, for civil servant teachers, the allowance is provided equal to their basic salary. “Non-civil servant teachers’ allowances have been raised from Rp1.5 million to Rp2 million, and civil servant teachers’ allowances are equal to their basic salary,” he stated. He explained that the system of direct monthly transfers to teachers’ accounts is a departure from the previous mechanism, which was considered lengthier due to multiple bureaucratic stages. Mu’ti assessed that this step was taken so that teachers could receive the benefits of the allowance more quickly and directly. “This demonstrates President Prabowo’s commitment to a non-bureaucratic process and to ensuring teachers can receive direct benefits from the allowance transfers to their accounts each month,” he said. Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya previously explained that the government has also overhauled the teacher allowance distribution system. Whereas previously funds were channelled through regional governments and generally received by teachers every three months, the allowance is now sent directly to recipients’ accounts each month on the instruction of President Prabowo.
