Taxi sinks into a pothole on Rasuna Said Street due to water pooling
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.COM - A Bluebird taxi became stuck in a hole on Jalan H.R. Rasuna Said, South Jakarta, on Sunday 8 March 2026. The incident was captured on a cellphone camera and circulated widely on social media after being posted by the account @dki360 on the same day. In the post, the taxi’s front wheels had fallen into the hole and could not move.
Local resident Wahyu (23) said the taxi became stuck because the driver thought there was a road to the right-hand side. ‘So the Bluebird car was heading to the road on the right. But the hole was hidden by surface water because it had been raining,’ Wahyu said. The driver did not realise the water pooling there concealed a fairly deep hole. ‘He thought there was a way to the right-hand lane. When he tried to pass, he fell in. He did not know there was a hole there because it was covered by water,’ he added.
The incident occurred around 04:00 WIB and it was not until 10:00 WIB that it was towed away by a Bluebird tow truck. ‘It was around 10 o’clock when it was towed. Perhaps the driver was waiting for the tow,’ he explained. ‘The driver is fine. The car could still move after being towed,’ Wahyu said.
KOMPAS.COM has contacted Blue Bird’s public relations representative, Rio Qashmal, regarding the matter. As of this report, there had been no response.
