Taxi robbery in Tangerang

TANGERANG: Three men managed to make off with Rp 221,000 and a Toyota Soluna sedan after stabbing and throwing the driver out the taxi near a cemetery in Pademangan village, Curug district of Tangerang on Thursday.

Tangerang police deputy detective Insp. Kustanto said that the victim, Saidun, 24, was a resident of Rawapajang village, Sepajang Jaya subdistrict, East Bekasi.

Kustanto said that the driver was passing by Jl. Pramuka Jaya Timur, East Jakarta, when three men hailed him and asked him to take them to Blok M, South Jakarta.

As the taxi arrived in Blok M, the passengers then ordered the driver to take them to the Mayestik area in South Jakarta.

When the taxi reached Mayestik, two passengers in the back seat suddenly held weapons up to Saidun's neck, while another man sitting up front stabbed him in the stomach.

The robbers then tied the driver up, commandeered his taxi and drove it to Tangerang.

They then threw the driver out of the cab -- identified as New Gading taxi B 1975EC -- after they arrived at a cemetery in Pademangan village, and then drove off.--JP
