An online taxi driver’s rage led to the destruction of another vehicle on the JORR Toll Road in Pondok Pinang, South Jakarta, resulting in a prolonged aftermath. His actions went viral and culminated in police arrest.

Police acted following the victim’s official report. The suspect was quickly identified and arrested to face further legal proceedings.

Originating from a Failed Overtaking Maneuver on the Toll Road

The incident occurred on Tuesday, 26 May 2026 at approximately 7:22 PM WIB. The victim was driving a minibus on the JORR Toll Road after entering via the Pondok Pinang Toll Gate.

JF (57), the suspect driving a Daihatsu Sigra, attempted to overtake from the left lane. However, the narrow road caused his vehicle to scrape the victim’s car on the left side.

Police stated the suspect allegedly became enraged after feeling he was not given way while attempting to overtake.

“In this incident, the suspect felt he was not given way when attempting to overtake on the left lane, causing him to become angry, approach the victim, and carry out the damage,” said Assistant Commissioner Pendi Wibisono of the Mobile Resmob Sub-directorate, Criminal Investigation Directorate of Polda Metro Jaya, on Sunday (31/5/2026).

Victim’s Car Damaged Using Wheel Lock

The suspect reportedly forced an overtaking maneuver from the right side and deliberately rammed the right side of the victim’s vehicle. He then cut in front of the victim’s car and stopped.

Police explained that the suspect immediately got out of his vehicle carrying a wheel lock.

“The suspect suddenly overtook from the right and immediately stopped in front, halting the victim’s vehicle and approaching him while carrying a wheel lock,” said Assistant Commissioner Pendi Wibisono of the Mobile Resmob Sub-directorate, Criminal Investigation Directorate of Polda Metro Jaya, on Sunday (31/5/2026).

The suspect then struck the victim’s right-side mirror, causing it to break. “At that moment, the suspect immediately hit the victim’s right mirror and caused damage, resulting in the mirror falling off, along with scratches on the vehicle and damage to the right mirror,” Pendi said.

The victim briefly exited his vehicle to secure the broken mirror and record the suspect’s face and license plate before the suspect left the scene.

Deputy Director of Cyber Affairs/Resmob Polda Metro Jaya, Senior Assistant Commissioner Resa Fiardi Marasabessy, stated that cyber patrols uncovered video footage showing the suspect’s anarchic actions against another driver.

Further investigation revealed that the victim, Peter Atindra Akbar, filed a police report at Kebayoran Lama Police Station on Friday, 29 May 2026. The Resmob team then conducted digital analysis to locate the suspect.

Arrested in Ciputat

Investigations led police to the suspect’s residence in Ciputat, South Tangerang. Officers arrested him on Friday, 29 May 2026 at approximately 3:30 PM WIB.

“The suspect was apprehended without resistance by Operational Unit 1 of Polda Metro Jaya’s Resmob at his residence in Ciputat, South Tangerang,” said Deputy Director of Cyber Affairs/Resmob Polda Metro Jaya Senior Assistant Commissioner Resa Fiardi Marasabessy on Sunday (31/5/2026).

In police-released footage, JF was escorted to Polda Metro Jaya for further questioning, his hands tied with cable ties upon arrival at the police station.

Police also seized evidence including a Gocar-branded shirt, black jacket, trousers, mobile phone, and incident video recordings. JF faces charges under Article 521 of the Indonesian Criminal Code (KUHP) under Law No. 1 of 2023 on Criminal Damage. The case is under further investigation by Polda Metro Jaya detectives.
